Kristen "Noct" Miller

I got my start in art at a young age. I grew up in the country where there wasn’t any internet. The only things we had to do were to go play out in the woods, draw, and watch old VHS tapes. I spent most of my time drawing. When I was younger, I would find my mom’s inked magazines and think about the different styles of tattoos I would do if I were to ever get into the profession.

Through middle school I started getting into the alternative scene and liked the idea of piercings and tattoos. I continued to draw throughout high school. When I got pregnant with my first child, I started cracking down on drawing. My daughter was my driving force to land a career in the industry, and I refused to do anything else. I would continue doing paintings, commissions, and expanding my portfolio until I felt I had enough to start looking for an apprenticeship.

In 2017 I got my first apprenticeship in Lawrenceburg, Indiana at Whiskey City Tattoo with Zach Boggs. Shortly after that, I moved into a shop in Mt. Orab, Ohio. This is where I really started to get a good grasp of things, and where I started to develop my style. Within a year I needed to find a place closer to home, and that is when I moved to Haven Tattoo Gallery (now called the “Devoted Art Collective”). This was the biggest turning point in my career. I found the majority of my wonderful clientele there, and now I have the privilege of tattooing the things that interest me the most.

In September of 2022, I opened Nocturnal Tattoos with my husband. I brought along my apprentice, Dom “Mob” Cuzzone and now we are tattooing out of a 2 person booth on Harrison Avenue, although a better, more permanent home is in the works. I am hoping for something a bit larger to accommodate more people. My hopes with opening a new shop is that I am providing a space where my clientele feel safe, and they are getting the most out of a positive tattoo experience. I hope that in making this space I can continue to grow with other like minded artists and provide a new standard in tattooing.
